Her mother worked as an accountant while her father was an historian. She was raised with an older brother, Michael who was an actor. Anna Kendrick began auditioning for Broadway productions as a teenager at Deering High School in Portland. It was when she was 12 when she landed her first stage role in High Society. Although she was a toddler her performance was enough to garner her numerous nominations and awards. In 2003 she played in A Little Night Music. The same year, she made her film debut in the film Camp at the age of 15. The performance was a highlight of her career, as well as her subsequent appearance in the 2007 film Rocket Science, Kendrick won even more nominations and awards.
